Croatan Institute releases climate finance compendium at UN Investor Summit
At the 2016 Investor Summit on Climate Risk, held on January 27 at the United Nations in New York City, Croatan Institute joined Big Path Capital in releasing a special edition of SmarterMoney+ Review, spotlighting ten leading papers on climate change and finance.
“Given the enormous interest on climate change after the Paris Climate Conference and the acceleration of the fossil-free Divest-Invest movement, we saw a need to create a reader’s digest of sorts on the topic,” said Michael Whelchel, Managing Partner at Big Path Capital and a member of Croatan Institute’s Board of Advisers. “The SmarterMoney+ Review contains articles and reports on the dynamic intersection of finance and climate change.”
Joshua Humphreys, President and Senior Fellow of Croatan Institute, served as consulting editor to the review, working closely with a Selection Committee of leading climate-related investors, practitioners, and researchers from Athena Capital Advisors, Big Path Capital, Cambridge Associates, CDP, Ceres, Encourage Capital, Mintz Levin, Prudential Impact Investments, and the Steyer-Taylor Center for Energy Policy & Finance at Stanford University.
Among the top ten reports selected for inclusion was Action on Climate: A Practical Guide for Fiduciaries, a toolkit for small-to-mid-size institutional investors written by Rob Lake and jointly published by Responsible Endowments Coalition, SEIU’s Capital Stewardship Program, and Croatan Institute, with the generous support of the V. Kann Rasmussen Foundation.
