Humphreys speaks at Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food Task Force
On June 3, Croatan Institute President and Senior Fellow Joshua Humphreys spoke at the USDA’s Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food (KYF2) Task Force meeting. KYF2 is a USDA-wide effort to carry out President Obama's commitment to strengthening local and regional food systems. The presentation, titled Farmer Friendly Finance for Sustainable, Local Food Systems, focused on describing the spectrum of friendly forms of finance available to local farmers and small businesses in rural communities. Humphreys also explained the WealthWorks approach of economic development, and presented a project that Croatan Institue is planning to identify gaps and opportunities in a local and sustainable livestock production value chain in Saxapahaw, NC.
