Carolina Farm Stewardship Association hosts Croatan Institute President

February 27, 2016

On Saturday, February 27, Croatan Institute President and Senior Fellow Joshua Humphreys made a presentation on “Financing a Sustainable Southern Food System” to the Board of Directors of the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association (CFSA).

The Board meeting, which took place at Rural Advancement Foundation International in Pittsboro, NC, provided a forum for a strategic discussion about CFSA’s role in creating a long-term vision for a more resilient regional food system in the Carolinas and beyond. Humphreys also presented the Organic Agriculture Revitalization Strategy (OARS), a project Croatan Institute is piloting in northeastern North Carolina. Working closely with partners and collaborators in the field, OARS aims to provide a blueprint for regional rural economic development by filling gaps in the organic agricultural value chain.
