John Fenderson Joins Croatan Institute as Fellow

We are pleased to announce that John Fenderson joined Croatan Institute in January as our newest fellow. John’s work focuses on conservation finance and forestry, particularly among minority timberland owners in the U.S. South.

John currently serves as managing partner with Hatchie River Co., LLC, based in Tennessee. Recently he was a Specialty Asset Manager for the Timberland Investment Group at U.S. Trust, following his prior service as a financial adviser at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He brings to Croatan Institute over 25 years experience in forest stewardship and the environmental arena working in such places as the Sierra Mountains in California, as well as in the Tongass National Forest in Alaska. After working at the National Network of Forest Practitioners, John now serves on the boards of the Tennessee Environmental Council, the Forest Stewards Guild, and the Forest Stewardship Council.
