Croatan Institute Welcomes Dr. David LeZaks as Newest Senior Fellow

We are pleased to announce that Dr. David LeZaks has joined Croatan Institute as our newest senior fellow. An environmental scientist and financial activist, David has become one of the world’s leading authorities on financing the transition to regenerative agriculture and healthy food systems.

David comes to Croatan Institute from Delta Institute in Chicago, where he directed the Regenerative Food Systems initiative. Over the last several years, David has led a major USDA-funded project on financing regenerative agriculture that led to our collaboratively published “Soil Wealth” report, and he will be actively engaged in Croatan Institute’s newly awarded Conservation Innovation Grant on place-based investing using rural regenerative organic agricultural districts.

He has been an Integrated Capital Institute fellow at RSF Social Finance, and he serves in advisory roles to Mad Agriculture, Nourishn, Savanna Institute, Council of Development Finance Agencies’ Food Systems Finance Advisory Council, and the Transformational Investing in Food Systems initiative, an allied initiative of the Global Alliance for the Future of Food. At Croatan Institute David will be building out an expanded portfolio of projects closely aligned with our Organic Agriculture Revitalization Strategy, focused on critical intersections between human health and soil wealth.

He is based in Madison, Wisconsin, so the Institute is excited to expand our presence in the Midwest under David’s leadership.
