Croatan Institute Welcomes Anna Aspenson as a Board Member

December 20, 2023

Croatan Institute Associate Anna Aspenson has been elected as the staff representative to the Croatan Institute board. Aspenson joined the board as of November 2023 and was elected by the staff as a part of our collective governance structure. During her board service, Aspenson will serve as a liaison between Croatan Institute staff and the board, advocating for staff issues with the board.

Aspenson works across a number of initiatives at the Institute, where her work focuses on place-based agricultural solutions to rebuilding healthy ecosystems and communities. She is a lead author on the forthcoming report, “Finance for Resilience: An Overview of Risk Mitigation in Agricultural Systems for Farms, Lenders, and Governments” and has contributed to several other Croatan Institute publications.

Croatan Institute is collectively governed by staff who all serve on various operational committees; these committees advise on and make decisions about the strategic direction of the Institute. As a function of our collective governance structure, Anna was elected to the board by Croatan Institute staff who view her as the best candidate to represent staff concerns in front of the board.
