Racial Equity Investment Database
Overview of Database
This database is a thematic subset of our RAISER database which identifies investable products across asset classes with an explicit focus on opportunities to advance racial equity. The included data consists of publicly available information and features investable products across Cash & Equivalents, Fixed Income, Public Equity, Private Equity/VC, and Real Assets. The database also highlights advisors and foundations who participated in the research and shared insights on their racial equity investing journey such as Natural Investments and Nathan Cumming Foundation.
Our Definition of racial equity Investing
Investors who wish to explore investments focused on racial equity can filter by asset class and by three qualitative pillars:
- Capital Reallocation: The investor is managing capital in a way that advances opportunities for communities of color
- Systemic Change: The investor is pursuing strategies/efforts to tackle systemic and institutional racism
- Measurement of Outcomes: The investor is making an effort to track or measure positive outcomes for communities of color
Data for the Racial Equity database was collected between September 2020 and June 2023, leveraging the research from Capital at a Crossroads. In the Cash asset class, the database DOES NOT recreate the extensive lists of community development financial institutions (CDFIs), community development credit unions (CDCUs), or black or minority-owned banks already curated by other organizations and agencies such as CDFI Fund, Inclusiv, and the BlackOut Coalition.
